Logo for Millie & Monster
The Client
Krista Hubschman established a thriving dog-walking business in Howard County, Maryland a few years ago. Her specialty is exercising dogs for long distances, pleasing her two-legged clients by giving her four-legged clients a better quality of life.
The Challenge
Krista’s original business name was bland and generic. Eventually, she decided it was time to establish herself with a brand that was true to her and completely original. Krista brainstormed with friends, fellow business owners, and eventually consulted a lawyer specializing in business entity formation and trademarking. She decided to name her brand after her own pets, her two dogs Millie & Monster. With her name set, she was ready to give her brand a face, so to speak. She contacted me and we got to work.
The Solution
Since the business is named after them, it made sense to design the logo around the image of her animals. Millie is a longer-haired Jack Russell Terrier and Monster is a Mastiff, and showing two animals of different sizes and breeds showed her range. Additionally, including Krista allowed us to make what she does literally visible to clients from the instant they saw it.
It was a delightful to work on this logo! I work with so many businesses who have abstract products and services. That is not a problem – it’s a challenge I welcome often – but sometimes, you just want to sketch cute animals! I used many of my photo manipulation and compositing skills in this design, at one point tracing from a picture Krista with her beasts post-run. Pulling together a design that showed the Krista’s dynamic connection with animals was great fun!
