The Client
Stephanie Anderson established a language coaching business a few years ago. She is the partner of a member of the US State Department and has moved continents every two or three years for a while now. Her specialty is coaching people learning languages to set and achieve their goals for fluency in writing or speaking, professional growth and even fun.
The Challenge
Stephanie has a great deal of expertise and experience teaching English speaking and writing. She had a steady stream of people who wanted to grow their English skills in and around the Embassy communities between the local staff and the partners of Foreign Service members who hailed from all over the globe. But Stephanie found herself spending a lot of time trying to make a logo. She felt like she was getting nowhere. As she stepped up her online marketing, the fact that she didn’t have a single brand identity was making it harder to set up email newsletters, create social media profiles and post templates, and be recognizable to clients on every platform she used. What was the point of marketing consistently if no one could recognize her each time she put herself out there?
The Solution
Since the business grew up around Stephanie’s own personal journey as much as her actual journeys across the world, I liked her idea of using an element of travel or mapping in the design. Stephanie is helping her clients to navigate, so a compass rose was a natural fit. Adding an open portion to the circular design was also intentional since Stephanie’s incredible skills in copywriting and organization have meant that her work sometimes takes her “off-road” from the typical paths of language coaching alone. She really customizes her work to her client’s needs, and her logo needed to be suited to her to fit!
As part of the project, we made sure to create icon-only versions of the logo so that she could just use her image without the name on various social profiles and promotional items. We also created a complete style guide with details on the fonts and colors used in her logo files and accent colors to use to create marketing items in the future.
